Hollyoaks 2009 Trailer

This trailer from Hollyoaks conveys the conventions used in many soap operas. It is stated in the trailer that there are 4 storylines within the episode, this is because of the large number of main characters within soap operas as the characters are meant to be percieved as realistic to life as possible.
The camera shots used are simple but effective, over the shoulder shots and big close ups are common shots used in soap operas. At the very end of the trailer a close up/crash zoom is used to emphasise the womans facial expression and shock at something she has seen, this draws the audience in and creates intimacy. A fast cut is used to the end title which creates a cliffhanger which many soap opera episodes end with to create tension and apprehension.
In the first scene characters can be seen running across a beach, which is a geniune beach which helps to create realism within the episode, outdoor locations are also used and sets used for indoor scenes.  Towards the end of the trailer the text "and a twist you won't see coming" is embedded between fast cuts of the characters which conveys urgency and conflict between the two female characters.
