Skins Trailer
For inspiration on my final media coursework piece, I looked at soaps/tv dramas that I was aware of and that were mainly aimed at a slightly younger audience than me. This was so I could relate to the story lines and easily recreate and advance on some of these ideas. In this Skins trailer I think the slow motion is extremely effective as it allows the viewer to connect with the characters emotions and "feel" the way that they do.
The editing and cuts used is something I would like to include in my soap trailer as the turn from happy emotions to angry/upset emotions is distinct through these techniques and often conflict is a common theme in soap operas.
The feathered edges of some of the scene represents a flashback, and this is also something I will consider when creating my soap trailer. Also no dialogue is heard for the first part of the trailer where everyone in the scenes seems to be having a good time, the long shot of the firework conveys the turn of events where the emotions change and a fight breaks out. At this stage dialogue can be heard as the volume of the non diegetic music backing the trailer is lowered yet the tempo is quicker. The cuts at this stage are fast to portray exactly what's happening in the scene - violence.
